Individuals of all backgrounds formed meaningful relationships and shared a sense of belonging based on exposure to, openness with, and an understanding of each other. Airdrie CultureFest creates a safe space for culture groups to learn about each other, build relationships, and forge a stronger sense of belonging and community - Airdrie-wide.'

Director, Volunteer Coordination
Kim Sundset brings over 25 years of professional project management experience and nearly two decades of hands-on leadership in youth and community development to the Airdrie CultureFest Society Board. She currently serves as Secretary and contributes a strong foundation in governance, organization, and strategic execution. Kim has spent 18+ years designing and coordinating programs and events for children and youth, including serving as General Leader of the Airdrie 4H Multiclub. She is also the founder of Youth Airdrie, where she has led youth-driven initiatives focused on leadership, belonging, and cultural celebration. Her professional work includes advisory roles with Indigenous and international communities through Catalyste+, bringing cross-cultural collaboration experience and a deep respect for diverse perspectives.
A long-time advocate for unity and diversity, Kim has spent more than a decade supporting community dialogue and inclusion through her involvement in the Bahá’í Faith. She is an experienced public speaker and facilitator, known for building partnerships, strengthening systems, and turning ideas into action. When Kim makes a commitment, she follows through with enthusiasm, integrity, and boundless energy. She believes strong boards are built from individuals who bring their unique strengths forward — and she hopes her example encourages others in Airdrie to step into leadership and share their skills in service of our vibrant, multicultural community.

Nekeisha proudly hails from Jamaica and now calls Airdrie home. With a strong background in Hospitality and Tourism, she is deeply passionate about bringing people together and creating meaningful experiences that celebrate cultural diversity.
As a proud Airdrie resident and co-owner of Yummingz Catering Food Truck, Nekeisha understands firsthand how food, culture, and community intersect to create connection. In her role as Director for Performances and Cultural Partnerships, she is committed to curating dynamic cultural showcases and building meaningful collaborations that reflect the rich diversity within our city.
She believes this multicultural festival is vital to Airdrie’s continued growth and unity. By highlighting diverse performances, traditions, and voices, the event promotes cultural awareness, acceptance, and inclusivity. Through shared experiences — from music and dance to food and storytelling — the festival will continue to strengthen community bonds and contribute to a more harmonious, vibrant, and welcoming Airdrie for all.

Chris is the host of Airdrie Inside, Head Coach of the George McDougall Mustangs football team, and serves on various boards and committees including the Airdrie Sports Council, airdrieFEST, Homecoming, and the Airdrie Field Turf Society. With a track record of love and connections that span the city, as well as a passion for travel and culture, Chris makes a great compassionate and strategic addition to the CultureFest Board.

Michelle St. John has been a resident of Airdrie for 17 years and has proudly watched the city grow into a diverse and culturally welcoming community. Her long-standing involvement in Airdrie, including her past service with Airdrie Rotary, has strengthened her commitment to community development, collaboration, and the creation of inclusive spaces. Michelle is dedicated to contributing her experience, passion, and strong community values to Airdrie CultureFest, helping to support an event that celebrates the richness and spirit of the city she calls home.

With over 10 years of background in sustainable community development and professional experience in leadership, governance, and nonprofits, she contributes both strategic oversight and operational insight to the organization. Her background enables her to understand how cultural events function not only as celebrations, but as drivers of social cohesion, civic pride, and local economic vitality.
Kristen adds value through her expertise in grant development, partnership building, and long-term sustainability planning, all critical to strengthening a volunteer-driven, multicultural festival. Her ability to bridge municipal processes, grassroots engagement, and cultural sector strategy supports Airdrie CultureFest’s growth as an inclusive and impactful community celebration. She brings a collaborative, systems-thinking approach that helps position the festival as a meaningful platform for belonging, diversity, and community connection in Airdrie.
